RENTON MOSQUE & COMMUNITY CENTRE
THE VICTORIA INSTITUTE : RENTON MAIN STREET PUBLIC LIBRARY
This relatively small, but elegant building is listed C, It was built in 1887 in an era when Renton was a very different looking village. With the usage of libraries falling due to social habits and the advent of the internet, this was one of those within West Dunbartonshire that was closed.
Fortunately though it now thrives in its alternative purpose as a mosque and community centre. Victoria Institute was allocated to the Muslim community to use as a place of worship and for Islamic education.
A picture taken in 2013.
And as it was in its heyday with the Ritz next to it.
