DUNCRYNE HILL, Gartocharn
Access : Reasonably easy for those steady on foot. To get to the start point, turn off Old Military Road within Gartocharn next to the sports fields. This is Duncryne Road. On your left will be some cottages and some woods. Near the further edge of the woods is a narrow layby. Park here taking care to not obstruct other cars or farm vehicles. At this point you will see a footpath into the woods which you need to follow to the summit.

Recommended walk.
Duncryne, known locally as the Dumpling, is a tiny hill of only 465 feet above sea level. However the very short ascent gives a reward out of all proportion to the effort, revealing a fantastic view of Loch Lomond, dotted with its many islands and backed by the great mountains of the Southern Highlands. It may be small but it is very prominent and provides many a photo opportunity from its vantage point.
This is a great short walk for the family.
The hill as seen from the north with Gartocharn in the foreground.
The views of Loch Lomond from Duncryne are magnificent.
As you approach from the south along Duncryne Road you will see it as a tree covered hill. In spring the lands below it may be decorated specialy for you with mystical stripes.
