CLOUDED FUNNEL : Clitocybe nebularis / Lepista nebularis

Also called louded agaric 

Wild Foods warn : This tasty, common, autumn mushroom can cause alarming gastric upsets in a number of people so we have placed it in the poisonous section.

This is often found around West Dunbartonshire in clusters such as along the edges of the mycelium spread.

A cluster found under conifers above Renton in October.

A sturdy stem and mycelium looking like roots

Here we see a substantial line demarcated by the mycelia below the surface following the confers above.

Mushrooms can be infected by springtails and fungus gnat larvae, while various other creatures may eat them too. Here we see one of them, white with a distinctive samll black head. The stalk has been hollowed out by them eating it.
