WAR MEMORIALS : OLD KILPATRICK, Dumbarton Road near Lusset Glen.
ACCESS : Easy.
This memorial stands in a small garden area close to Lusset Glen and the Forth and Clyde Canal. It is commprised of a stone cross on a heavy rubble base.
There are two bronze plaques.
The first reads:
IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF OLD KILPATRICK WHO
GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR KING AND COUNTRY 1914 - 1919
and several names.
The second reads :
NAMES OF LOCAL MEN WHO GAVE THE
SURPEME SACRIFICE IN THE 1939 - 1945 WAR
and several names.
A memorial bench has recently been installed in front of it. This has the sihouettes of advancing soliders, barbed wire and poppies.
A plaque on it reads :

in defence of our country
