GATES
When the heavy metal gates were removed when the main entrances were closed up, they were said to be stores somewhere. One theory was that a pair were in York. Another pair are in the Science Museum outstation at Wroughton, near Swindon, with the acquisition numbers 1978-7192-1 and -2.

DUMBARTON PROMOTION
This station was seen as the gatewayo the town and the area for more than just locals going elsewhere and returning. The grandeur of the station expressed pride and encouraged visitors.
This was one of the promoional posters in the station. Not what most of us today consider an attractive sight, but back then the town was very proud of the enormo0s Allied Distillery = it has long since disappeared. [GK].
