The Monthly meeting of the Council was held on the 3rd June at 7 o'clock Al members, barring Richard James, who had work commitments,. present with Don Griffiths in the Chair. CC Haydn Jones was also present. The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and mad an apology for Tessa the policewoman, who had arrived at the meeting but was called away to an emergency at N C Emlyn. She stated that if there were any problems in the area to contact the Police at N C Emlyn. The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting and they were poposed as being correct by David Phillips and Hugh Thomas. Matters arising CC Haydn Jones stated that work would be starting shortly on the culvert near Heol Y Gelli Housing estate . The County council had been waiting for the CCTV camera report on the interior of the pipe crossing the road. Jeff Lewis stated that he had seen workmen there during last week. The Clerk then stated that he had placed a notice on the village board stating that if any one had an interest in taking on the running of a Post Office in the village to contact Clerk Haydn stated that he had sent 3 emails to Mr Hywel Humphries about arranging a visit to discuss the leases on the land surrounding the Ganolfan and accesses. Apparently he had been on holiday and Haydn will contact him again in the week The Clerk then read a letter from Mr Eirian James, Recreation Unit at Tumble stating that a Public Right of way presentation would be held on Thurs 17th June from 6 - 8.30 pm at the Church Hall Llanpumpsaint. They were going to explain how the footpath maintenance scheme was going to work It was agreed that the Chair and Vice (Don and Jeff) and the Clerk should attend. David Phillips stated that the mole problem at the sports field was getting better. Mr Elgan Jones had made 15 visits so far and was still placing the deterents in the tracks. David suggested that it would be wise to place new turf where the moles had been, so he was asked to proceed with the replacement.. David also stated he was now putting Council news on Spanglefish.com/cenarth with no problems. He was going to place a notice on the village board stating where the information could be found. The Clerk and Haydn stated that Mr Simon White, Chief Exec One Voice Wales was going to send an email to David enclosing details of a site available to Comm Councils Members stated that several of the potholes had been attended to in the area and the Clerk confirmed in a letter from Tony Williams ,Highways that complaints received would be attended to. Also the directional signs would be checked and replaced if necessary Melfydd Jones stated that a new gutter had been placed across the road opposite to the windmill entrance at Blaenbowi to take care of surface water. Haydn also stated that there had been a problem with the suppliers of the black bags which had now been resolved. Members asked Haydn who was responsible for the repairs on Cenarth bridge. He stated that Ceredigion and Carmarthen shared the work on alternate bridges. Carmarthen was responsible for Cenarth. A section of the bidge on the Ceredigion side had been damaged and needed repair. Haydn stated that he would approach the Highways dept A copy of a letter from the Local Gov Boundary Commision was received from Carms C Council stating that a review of electoral arrangements for Carmarthenshire was to be carried out and any comments should be submitted by the 16th July 2010 They were aiming for a ratio of one County Councillor for every 1750 electors. The Cenarth division had 1671 electors to one Councillor. A letter was received from Transport and Eng Div stating that new speed limits were to be introduced at Cenarth village. A 30mph limit would be set on the A484 above Yet Farm and on the road from Gellidywyll down to tthe Cenotaph and from there it will be reduced to 20 MPH over the bridge and also towards Abercych on the B332 as far as Chatterbox cottage and into Heol Gelli Estate. A letter was received from Mr Ben and Francoise Graham of Beacon Stoves stating that work on their new showroom would start on the 24th May and finish at the end of November.They hoped not to disturb the village life. Any one could contact them to discuss any aspect of the project. AOB 1. Jeff lewis asked whether it would be possible to carry out an improvement to the open ditch carrying water past the ground of "Ty Te" cafe in Cenarth. It was not a very pleasant site for visitors to the village and cafe. Haydn stated that he would contact the Public Health officer and arrange a site visit 2. Chris Thomas stated that the road surface from Fox and Hounds Cwmcych to Bridgend was in a very poor state of repair. Also the fallen tree across the river Cych at the bottom of Plyg Y Rhiw bends was blocking the flow of the river and most probably would cause flooding problems with heavy rain. Haydn stated that he would take up the matter with the River Authorites 3. Melfydd Jones asked what had happened to the posts that had been erected outside Blaenwaunfachh. Haydn stated that the Highways Dept were attempting to find out ho owned the road verge outside the house and he willchase them up again for an answer 4. The Chair, Don Griffiths stated that he and wife Dilys had been well looked after at the N C Emlyn Town Council Mayor making ceremony and the civil Service at Ebenezer chapel The meeting concluded at 9.15pm and the next meeting will be on the 1st July 2010 at 7 o'clock | ![]() |
