Donald Aird

In 1806 Mrs Robertson wrote from the manse of Kiltearn noting that a number of men were planning to leave for Demerara in the summer. These included Donald Aird, who had been valet to Sir Hector Munro of Novar until Sir Hector's death in December 1805. There had been a legacy in Sir Hector's will of £20 a year for life for Donald [NLS MS 19331 f115 Anne Robertson, Kiltearn, to her daughter Christian (Mrs Watson), Crantit, Orkney, 31 March 1806]. He may be the Donald Aird who was born in Kiltearn on 12 January 1773 [OPR Kiltearn 070/00 0010 0146].

In June 1811 a letter to Donald Aird was waiting for collection at the post office in Georgetown, Demerara [E&DRG 1 June 1811] but otherwise nothing is known of him.
