Angus Scobie (Assynt)
Kenneth Scobie (1732-1808) was the son of Rev William Scobie, minister of Assynt. He had the tack [lease] of Achmore and was latterly a sheep farmer and herring fisherman. On 11 Dec 1807, Kenneth’s son Angus died in Demerara ‘in the prime of youth’ [Scots Magazine , 1807]
His friend Hugh Munro Robertson wrote that he was ‘a most excellent young man, a particular friend of mine . . . He was uncle to the Misses Ritchie.’ [NLS MS 19332 f80 Hugh Munro Robertson to Dr Traill from Demerary Dec 25th 1807]
