Donald Dingwall

Donald Dingwall I understand is gone to Demerara tho what a fool in not coming to Jamaica where carpenters soon collect money.

Donald Dingwall made a donation of five guineas to Inverness Academy, from Demerara, in 1814 [AUL KC Ms874 p234].

On 2nd May 1817 the Inverness Journal reported that "Mr Alexr. Dingwall, plumber in Greenock, has lately paid into the hands of the Kirk treasurer of Dingwall, a legacy of £50 sterling, bequeathed by his deceased brother, Mr Donald Dingwall, late of Demerara, for the behoof of the poor of that parish, where he drew his first breath, and where he at last ended his days".

Alexander and Donald were the children of Alexander Dingwall and Christina Ross [Gravestone, St Clement's, Dingwall]. Alexander was the couple's youngest son, born in Dingwall in March 1777 [OPR 062/00 0010 0111].
