Hamilton College, New York, holds a great collection of material relating to Caribbean plantations and have digitsed this and made it freely available. One item is a Diary of a voyage from Inverness, via London, to Demerara, a journey made in 1843.
Looking at this in detail I have been able to identify the writer as Dr William Munro (1799-1847), who lived in the house which is now the BBC studios in Inverness. Hamilton College have now updated the information on the diary.
