AGM May 2011

The AGM for Cenarth Community Council was held on Tues 3rd May 2011 at 7pm in the Ganolfan in Capel Iwan

Members present

With Coun Don Griffiths in the chair all members were present less Nigel Williams ,who had sent an apology. The chair also welcomed PCSO Jeff Kedward and congratulated him on his recent wedding and wished him and his wife well for the future. Jeff had no new Police activity reports for the area. However members expressed concern about the new 30mph signs that had been erected at Capel Iwan. Several people on the road from N.C. Emlyn into Capel Iwan village were not taking any notice of the new speed limit. Jeff made a note of the complaint and stated that Police presence ight improve the situation. Don thanked him for his visit.

The Clerk then red the minutes of the previous meeting and they were proposed as being correct by David Phillips and William Davies

Matters arising

The Clerk thanked CC Hazel Evans for all the information she had provided for the April Meeting and all the hard work she was putting in for the area

1. Hazel was still putting pressure on the Estates dept to get the new lease drawn up for lands around the Ganolfan

2.Council is still trying to resolve the problems with the letter boxes at Capel Iwan and Tanglwst

3. Road works... Workmen had been patching the road from Capel Iwan  to Plain junction. Ther had been no action on the road from Plygyrhiw junction to Bridgend, Cwmcych. Hazel would contact area surveyor again

4.No further action had taken place about the public conveniencies at Heol y Gelli Cenarth by the County Council- no vote had taken place.. "One Voice Wales" had told Community Councils not to take over responsibility for running. They are now fighting our case

5.Hazel was going to contact the County Education dept to check what monies were available to help with financing the bus shelter project at Cenarth village

6.Also Hazel was checking up for getting visits by the road sweeper for Bryn Square to Yet Farm and also Capel Iwan village and surrounding areas

7. William Davies stated that building work at Penbanc had been completed

8.Hazel would also chase up the drain clearance at St Llawddog's Well car park in Cenarth

The Council the proceeded to appoint the Chair for the year 2011- 2012 Don Griffiths firstly thanked all the members for the support they had given him during his year of office. He also thanked the Clerk for all the work he had done throughout the year and also Hazel for her hard work. It was proposed by David Phillips and Hugh Thomas that the vice-chair Jeff Lewis-- Cenarth ward should be appointed chair for the coming year. Also Don Griffiths and Hugh Thomas proposed that William Davies, Cilrhedyn ward should be appointed as vice - chair

Jeff Lewis then took the chair for the rest of the meeting. He firstly thanked everyone for the honour and hoped that he would be able to carry on the tradition and good work of previous chair persons. He also thanked Hazel and the Clerk for their hard work and hoped for a successful year in office with the Council

The Clerk then read a letter from Dylan Bowen,Tanybryn,Pantybwlch asking whether the Comm Council would find themselves able to support him financially on his exchange visit to Canada in November. He had been chosen to represent the YFC movement as an ambassador for his country on a visit to Canada. It was a great honour to be chosen and Dylan would be able on his return to visit  various movements societies and clubs to talk about his experiences in a foreign country. Members agreed  to sponsor Dylan and a sum of 100 pounds was proposed.

A notice was received from Carms CC that a road closure would take place on the 4th May 2011 by Esgairgraig, Penlone rd for Welsh water works

1. Full planning for a proposed garage and store for Mrs Pam Evans  Arkley House Cenarth    No W/24627       no objections

AOB

Samuel Jones said that he had had complaints about odours coming from the open gutter that ran down beside Ty Te Restaurant in Cenarth. The Public Health officer had been out to the location bfore and could not find any problems. It was suggested that the owner contact the Environment Dept immediately the smells occured again and take a sample of the running water Hazel said she would talk to the Public Health officer again.

The meeting ended at 9.30pm and the next meeting will be on Thurs 2nd June @ 7pm @ The Ganolfan, Capel Iwan
