Alexander Duff (1812–77)

Alexander Duff was the second son of Rev David Duff, parish minister of Kenmore (Perthshire), and Grace McLaggan (sister of Peter or Patrick McLagan, later a partner in McInroy Sandbach & Co). Alexander went to Demerara and worked as a clerk in the offices of McInroy Sandbach along with Peter Miller Watson (1838 Georgetown Census).

He was later a member of the colony’s College of Electors, a position he resigned in 1851 (Evening Mail, 22 August 1851). He died in Georgetown on 16 August 1877 (Dundee Courier, 7 September 1877).
