Fortrose Academy

When a new academy building was planned in 1810 an appeal raised over £1800, of which 22% came from the Caribbean (Jamaica, Grenada and the Bahamas), 52% from India, and the remainder from London merchants and local landowners.

Pupils at the school included Eliza and William Junor of Demerara.
