110 Queen Street, into Ingram Street and Hanover Street, Glasgow

As in so many cases, I feel that new shiny glazed buildings depend on their older, more ornate neighours for interest through reflections. This is no exception, although I must admit it is very crisp and smart.

This picture was taken from down Hanover Street as I left George Square. The new building was essentially complete except for a final sprucing up and I found some human spiders dangling on their webs to clean the glass. Just beyond across Ingram Street is its older ornate neighbour with its cast iron and leadwork.

The new building is 110 Queen Street and covers the half block from Queen Street, along Ingram Street to Hanover Street. It was completed in 2015. The developer was BAM and the architects Cooper Cromar. Behind that curvaceous glass facade is extensive floorspace for lease, open and almost unfetted by predefined structure.
