Trial Report Bransdale Nursery 8/2/25

This week’s trial was held at Bransdale a beautiful part of the of Yorkshire moors. Set down a single track road with lovely stone walling. It was a good course on undulating land with the sheep run in packets of 3, and were tricky and sharp for all.
Thanks to the host Paul Broughton for the trial and for letting out. Thanks also to Heidi Cheadle, James Allison and Mark Hodgson for letting out.
Thank you to the judge John Atkinson for judging 25 dogs.
The new handler class was won by Stuart Beaton and Jim who just beat Lisa Bray by outrun, lift and fetch!
Well done to Tina Bennett and Strike the winners of the novice class.
Congratulations goes to Steve Aconley and Hilston Rob on their 5th win of the season and chasing Graham Blyth and Cloddiau Bet in the aggregate who also have 5 wins. Second place goes to David Bristow and Greenhow Tess.

26.1.25 T Bennett judged 20 dogs at another new trial held at Scorby, York. The course was good and consisted of a nice flat field with a left hand drive. However the sheep, mixed breed lambs were very testing and hard work for the dogs.

19.1.25   R Spooner judged 24 dogs at Carlton. It was a cold, dank day, but thankfully no wind although the sheep to start with were still sharp and unsettled and difficult to pen though they improved as the day progressed.

Winner J Howard

Trial Report for New Years Eve Trial for New Handlers and Novice Dogs 31/12/24

This trial was held by kind permission of Jackie Goulder and Bob Harland. The trial was to encourage new handlers to gain some more experience in an informal setting. The weather was kind and managed to hold off until we finished the trial.
Thanks to Elizabeth Gautier for judging all the handlers and giving some constructive feedback to help them improve.
Thanks to Bob Harland for letting out the sheep, 3 mules which ran very well giving everybody a chance.
Lunch break saw some refreshments from Jackie Goulder and the pigs in blankets were lovely.
🏆It was a nice relaxed informal occasion with no pressure however it was still a competition and congratulations to the winner of the new handler trial Martyn Robinson with his dog Joe, in second place Heidi Cheadle and Suki 👏 followed by her partner James Allison and Sherlockstown Pixie 👏

The day started bright, sunny and cold but clouded over and tried to rain as the day went on, and the sheep were the same bright and sharp to start but got a little fed up as the day went on and became more challenging around the course.
