Salute to our heroes

Salute to our wartime heroes 1914 -2014

Neath branch of the Royal British Legion helped to mark the 100 years since the outbreak of World War 1

Branch chairman of Neath Royal British Legion Jeff Colman said the event was extremely well attended, despite the downpour.

Members of the branch were followed on the march by the Territorial Army, Air Training Corps and, Sea Cadets, special guests which included
Neath MP Peter Hain, Mayor of Neath Port Talbot  Hugh N. James, and  Deputy town Mayor of Neath town council Cllr. Alan Carter.

A thorough search of the march route was undertaken by police prior to the event amid heightened security over an alleged terror plot at London’s Cenotaph memorial event

A service was held at St David’s church by Canon Stephen Ryan before a march to the gates at the Gnoll Park where a wreath-laying ceremony was held.
