Elvis tribute
Porthcawl all shook up Once again the coastal resort of Porthcawl was packed with Elvis tribute artists and fans last weekend. Billed as the biggest gathering of Elvis tribute artists, Porthcawl's reputation has grown year by year in staging this festival. Thousands packed into the town with many entering fully into the spirit of this annual event by dressing in a variety of Elvis-related costumes.
You could have raised a battalion from all the USA military uniforms that were on display, quite a few of them worn by females. One Elvis fan told me that 15 coaches were chartered from Aberdare alone and at least one coach came from Resolven to enjoy the proceedings. On the Sunday, the sun shone even more strongly as people flocked into the streets and pubs and strolled along the promenade and beach. Your reporter had a nostalgic time visiting Coney Beach fair as well, where many a childhood outing was enjoyed. Porthcawl was once again 'All Shook Up' in its devotion to The King .... and what fun it all was. You can view more Elvis images here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erNjRAtyFIw Jeff Griffiths
