Neath Battle of Britain Parade

Battle of Britain Parade Neath Sept 14th 2014

Report and photos by Mike Davies

There was a chill in the September morning air but thankfully the sun shone down on all members of the forces participating.

Outside the Gwyn Hall

The parade started at London Rd at 10.20am with many people marching from a variety of services. The salute took place outside the Gwyn Hall, then a service was held at St. David’s church officiated by Canon Stephan Ryan, Rector of Neath. Following the church service, the parade marched to the Cenotaph at the Memorial Gates leading to the Gnoll country park.

A time to reflect

Secretary of the Neath RAFA Branch, Denzil Haynes, said:
“It is the largest parade in West Glamorgan, if not Wales”

Officials attending:

Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr Huw James,  Neath Mayor, Cllr. Alan Carter, Leader of the Council, A H Thomas, MP for Neath Peter Hain, and other members of council & members of the armed forces.
