Elvis event at Victoria Gardens

An array of Elvises performed in the bandstand at the Victoria Gardens on Saturday, July 5. And what talent was on show from these tribute artists. Each brought something special to his performance whether rousing and toetapping or mellow and heart tugging. This was an event that had been previously cancelled due to wet weather but this day the sun shone and an enthusiastic crowd turned out in large numbers to enjoy these talented performers.

A special cheer was reserved for our local Elvis - the 'Melyn Elvis' as he was dubbed - and more Elvis aficionados were to be seen amongst the watching crowds. There was even a puppet Elvis show presented by a church group.

A large audience was attracted to this mid-summer event and tribute was paid to Sarah Maybery-Thomas (left), who introduced the artists, for putting on such a memorable show. Sarah promised us that next year it would be repeated on or around American Independence Day and that we should come dressed appropriately to celebrate the American theme. I for one can't wait to once again get 'all shook up, ahahaha' in the words of The King!
