Cyprus benefits from EU

Cyprus is putting us to shame - or so it seems

Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean, and a member state of the European Union. It is located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel, north of Egypt and east of Greece.

Mike writes from Cyprus:

No litter, the motorways are fantastic, no potholes to be seen anywhere, workmen cutting the grass on the motorways and cleaning up after,no cut grass left on the road sides, they even water the flowers on the motorways, roundabouts have fountains working and Cyprus is suffering drought conditions.
You approach a zebra crossing which has cats eyes both sides so you can clearly see the crossing well before, all lights are on including the side roads - the uk turns them off.
Toilets are open 24/7 - the UK is closing them down. The Cyprus toilets are sparkling, I went to a roman theatre on top of a mountain with a fantastic road no litter to be seen anywhere. The reception area was laid out with mahogany flooring and the toilets were amazing clean, no graffiti a pleasure to use.
The UK wants to wake up we have gone dirty and unkept.
