Bobby Coles Writes....

"My name is Bobby Cole, and I am the musical director for Vocal Harmony – a contemporary choir based in South Wales supporting Ty Hafan. I would love to discuss whether we could run an article on the choir coming to the area? I would love to be able to get this information on your ‘page 3’ section, as these choirs mainly attract women."

Vocal Harmony is an exciting and contemporary choir that began in Swansea. This September we are setting up a new branch in the Neath Port Talbot area (first rehearsal is at 7:30pm on Tuesday 23rd September – at the Centre in Baglan).

We sing modern music in three part harmony, everything from Take That to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder to Journey and much more! All choir parts are taught using call and response, so your part is played and sung to the group, then they simply repeat it until they have learnt it. We also produce backing tracks (downloadable from the website and available on CD at the rehearsals) for members to practise along to in between sessions.

At no point will choir members ever have to sing on their own; there is also no audition and no need to read music!

Everyone is welcome, and we have a real mix of ages in choir from 16 to 70!

We run three ten week terms each year, all in line with local school holidays. At the end of each term, we put on a performance singing all of the songs we have learnt. At the end of the year we then hire out a large theatre and put on an ‘end of year’ concert, inviting the three branches of Vocal Harmony to join us also!
