Briton Ferry Public Hall - Now a Tesco
Located in Briton Ferry close to Neath, The Public Hall opened in 1911. Some films were screened in the early days, but the hall began operating as a full time cinema some time later.
It was listed as "closed" in the 1937 Kinematograph year book and never reopened but the building continued as a public hall and often staged amateur productions on it's stage.
The Public Hall was demolished in 1962 and a car dealership/garage was built on the site.
The new Tesco stores opened on Feb 11th 2014 - see next news item.
See below the video including a sequence from "Only Two Can Play"
which was filmed in the public hall and Swansea starring Peter Sellers & Mai Zetterling.
Always play full screen for best viewing.
A Mike Davies feature production.
