Crime Prevention Plan Outlined

Left: Mr Alun Thomas, Chairman.   Right: Mr Dave Francis, Assistant Police & Crime Commissioner.

The Association's AGM took place at the Civic Centre, Neath, on 25th April 2013, which was attended by Mr Dave Francis, Assistant Commissioner of the Police and Crime Commission who briefly outlined the Crime Reduction Plan as put forward by the Rt Hon Alun Michael - Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales.

Mr Francis, formerly a Police Superintendent, said he had only been in the job for three weeks but was getting to grip with the issues.

Answering a question about the limited powers of PCSO's, Mr Francis said that in effect the objective was to have a two tier police force - the PCSO's having  friendly contact with the public without the formal atmosphere often felt with warrent officers.

Mr Alun Thomas was re-elected as Chairperson and will give a more detailed report of the AGM in his next newsletter.

A summary of the Police and Crime Reduction Plan can be seen on the ATN Neighbourhood Watch Association website:
