Google take over speculation?

Google's offer for News websites

Google's interest in this website and also the Neath Ferret website has led to a speculation about a take over said to be in the region of several millions of pounds.

It is a fact that Google, who now own several other websites, including YouTube, are out to increase their advertising business by acquiring locally based websites that have advertising potential.     Because of the high viewing figures of the Neath Guardian website, and especially the Neath Ferret, it is alleged that their advertising potential put them as firm contenders for the Google empire.

Both Google and Yahoo (recently in the news - see above insert) have declared their interest in news based websites in view of the number of returning visitors.

The Neath Guardian editorial team refused to comment about the speculation of a take over at the present time.
