Raised in Saffron Walden, Essex, and Lowestoft, Suffolk. BA (Honours) from Manchester University; Certificate of Education from Nottingham University. In 1970, married John, a Mining Engineer, also born in Saffron Walden and a fellow pupil at Lowestoft Grammar School. 

 

Spent the first three years of married life in Kalalushi, Zambia, followed by a year in Tipperary, Ireland, before finally invading Fife, where we’ve lived for three and half decades in the hamlet of Giffordtown. Both sons are married, one with a daughter living in Hood River, Oregon; the other with a little son in Los Barriles, Baja Sur, where he runs Exotikite, a kitesurfing school.

 

We visit stateside twice a year, as well as Lefkas, Greece, where the family keeps a Maxi sailing boat. After 25 years' lecturing in Further Education, I am now retired, though still involved in journalism and writing PR materials.
