Potato Sales 2012
The members getting ready for a day of selling
Howe of Fife Rotarians are once again out and about in a street near you selling potatoes in aid of charity. The first delivery of 10 tons arrived on 24th November and after a busy weekend, were all sold by the following Wednesday. The second delivery - another 10 tons - arrived on Thursday 8th December and are almost sold out as this is written on the 10th! Note that 20 tons is 800 bags each of 56lbs! These were sold at the Deer Centre, Cupar Garden Centre and door-to-door in Newburgh, Auchtermuchty, Strathmiglo, Ladybank, Freuchie, Falkland, Cupar, Pitlessie, Ceres and Pitscottie. The price this year was £6 per bag - a reduction on last year's £7. We also sold jars of marmalade, specially labelled by MacKay's of Dundee. These were ordered in bulk by our sister club in Dundee. All money from the sales of Roosters and the profits from the marmalade sales will go to charity. £2000 has already been committed to Children In Need. Very many thanks to all those who bought potatoes or marmalade or who gave a donation - not everyone wants 56lbs of potatoes! Thanks also to the Deer Centre and Cupar Garden Centre who allow us to sell from their car parks. And of course a great cry of "THANK YOU" to Albert Bartlett whose generosity made this possible.
