Anzio Visit

The team from Newburgh Primary School who visited Anzio in Italy in January 2009 talked to members of the Howe of Fife Rotary Club this evening.

The four members were students Amy Momsom, Jennifer Ross, and teachers Ann McGrath and Rhona May. The students along with four others had won a competition organised by the Royal British Legion to find out about their local War Memorial. The prize was to visit Italy to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the "Anzio landings" in 1944. The group visited the Cairncross Graves and other cemetaries. They took part in a remembrance parade and visited the British Embassy.

On return they visited the Scottish parliamant where they were awarded a"Certificate of Excellance" in honour of Princess Diana.

The funds raised not spent in Italy are to be spent on the Newburgh War Memorial.
