Primary Schools Quiz 2012
The winning team from Falkland Primary School with Past President Rod McCall
A team of Falkland Primary School pupils were the worthy winners of the club's heat of this year's Rotary Primary Schools' Quiz, held in a packed Strathmiglo Hall on Wednesday evening 22 March 2012. Ten teams in all participated, those from farthest away were Newburgh and Strathmiglo; each arrived with a loyal band of supporters to cheer them on. At the start of the competition, the scores were neck and neck, making it impossible to predict the outcome. The questions covered topics such as Geography, History, Literature, Numeracy, General Knowledge and so on. Some questions posed few problems for the youngsters; others had even the adult audience members looking bemused. Falkland's winning score was a very respectable of 85 out of 120, with a tie-break needed for Newburgh (eventual runner-up) and Kingskettle, both on 79, to decide on second place. At the end of an exciting and closely-fought competition, Past President Rod McCall thanked all the teams for their impressive efforts and wished Falkland well in the next round of the quiz.
