Concert for Chimwemwe

On Friday 16th April 2010, some 80 people gathered in Strathmiglo Hall,  for a concert organised by members of the  Howe of Fife Rotary Club under the guidance of Joan Potts.  The event raised over £700 for Chimwemwe, a project that helps care for dispossessed street children in Malawi.  With the aim of taking their audience on 'A Sentimental Journey',  singer Linda Ballingall with guests, John Grieve and Craig Smith, sang popular show songs as well as those made famous by such stars as Frank Sinatra, Matt Munro, Judy Garland and many more.  The finale was a show-stopping rendition of 'The Rhythm of Life', originally sung by Sammy Davis Junior in the film, 'Sweet Charity'.  President Dennis Beattie, thanked all the singers for an enjoyable evening.  Over £830 was raised from admission and sales of raffle tickets.
