I was born in Irvine on the West coast of Scotland and educated at Irvine Royal Academy. I did National Service in the RAF for two years and on demob joined ICI at their Ardeer factory. I attended Paisley Technical College on day release and obtained a diploma in chemistry and physics. I married Marlene, joined Scottish and Newcastle Breweries and moved to Penicuick. I remained with S & N until retirement and currently live in Cupar. I am a founder member and past president of the Howe of Fife Rotary Club and have served as secretary.
