JACK AND HIS LADS BOWL THEM OVER INDOORS
Northwich Guardian, Thursday 19th February.
Whoever said age is no barrier knew exactly what they were talking about, particulary where the Northwich indoor bowls league is concerned. the second division title has just been claimed by Jack's Lads and the Jack in question, Jack Price, still plays for the side despite being just days shy of 90 years old.
in fact, until this season Jack was captain of the side which competes at Northwich Memorial hall every Monday evening.
New captain Alan Whitelegg said,'we've had a great season and we haven't actually beeb beaten this year. We actually changed our name this year to Jack's Lads because it was a chance to honour Jack and it's great that we've done so well using his name. Everyone loves him and he's really well known in the bowling comunity'.
And Jack's Lads were given an extra boost with the news that they are the first team in the Northwich indoor bowls league to be sponsored.
The Duke of Portland pub announced a sponsorship deal with the team which will see them wear T-shirts bearing the name of the pub for the rest of the season.
Alan added,'The sponsorship caused a bit of a fuss but it's good for us and the pub, which came second in a recent best pub in the UK competition.'

DAVENHAM DO IT FOR GRIFFITHS
Northwich Guardian, Wednesday 16th March.
Davenham are the Northwich indoor bowling league knockout cup champions for the third year in succession and they have dedicated their win to former captain Colin Griffiths.
The team, who once again retained the first division title, beat Jacks Lads in the final at Northwich Memorial hall. team member and sponsor Barbara Healey said, ' I am proud to be a member and sponsor of such a great team. The whole team pulls together and there is great camarderie among us. we set out to win both the team knockout and the division one title this year as a tribute to our captain Colin Griffiths who passed away prior to the beggining of the bowling season.'
she added,'Colin has been a great captain and a superb bowler, he is greatly missed by everyone. as Colin won everything last year, league, knockout, singles and doubles as well as the Cheshire Inter village title, we just couldn't let him down.'
Davenham beat Russets to the division one title while High Legh pipped the Outsiders to the division two crown.

The 2nd Didision winning team were Bandits, a mere 8 points ahead of Oddbods who in turn were only 10 points better than Rudheath, what a promotion battle that was.
The team knockout competition winners were Jacks Lads, taking full advantage of their handicap points.

2011
NORTHWICH INDOOR LEAGUE
From Short mat International, Spring 2011.
As always, the competition in the Memorial hall was fierce in 2010-11 season. Is it an advantage or disadvantage if you are the opposition in short mat bowls and your comments can easily be heard from the other end of the mat. It is difficult to hide even whispers over fourty-five feet. However, we all were in one piece at the end of the battles and the fiercest of adversaries were shaking hands and uttering things like 'see you next October'.
Davenham, Rudheath Premier and Jacks Lads were again at the top of Division One but not in the usual order. Rudheath Premier, formally Hartford, seemed unbeatable from day one of the season and finished top of the division. Jacks Lads did well against the top teams, struggled against the lower teams but did eventually make it into second place, holding off Davenham by beating Rudheath Premier in the last week of the campaign.
Rudheath A topped the second division (Do you call that strengh in depth), so the likes of youngsters such as Tim Hulme and Jack Hardman will be frightning some of the seniors next time. HLB finished second.
