ANOTHER CLASSIC PERFORMANCE

Glynn Cookson ended a season more glorious than Saturday's sunshine by winning Mid Cheshire's biggest prize.
He took the £600 Ring O'Bells at Weaverham beating Andy Hughes 21-15 in the final.
It came two weeks after his triumph in the Waterloo classic at Blackpool and gives him six individual titles, including the Guardian Cup for Mid Cheshire champion, for 2001.
Saturday's route to the final was perhaps toughest at the semi final stage when Cookson had a narrow 21-18 win over Charlie Bebbington. At this stage Hughes beat Mike Geraghty 21-13, and the large crowd also enjoyed some fine bowling from other competitors, including the other quarter finalists Alan Robinson, Kevin Nicholas, Barry Kirk and John Daniels.
Alan Davies Williams, representative of tournament sponsor MG pubs, presented the prizes.
