What are the first estimates of defending Europe without the USA: what would it cost the Europeans?

Germany would have to cough up 60 billion euros of additional military spending for its Armed Forces. The increase in GDP per annum would be from 2 per cent spendings now to be raised to 4%. This would, of course, mean that the EU and its member states would have to jointly raise an additional 250 million euros every year. An expensive war indeed.

What are the economic benefits of such a krieg? It would mean a debt-financed increase in defence spending which could act as an economic stimulus if it is spent within the EU, especially in times of declining external demand due to US tariffs and trade conflicts, according to Institute Fellow  Prof. Guntram Wolff, Kiel.

Just recently, the Russian Army has lost 1,300 troops and two air defence systems in Ukraine.

The total combat losses of Ruski troops in Ukraine rose from February 24, 2022 till February 25, 2025 to circa 869330.

How is the Russian military divided? It is divided into Ground Forces, Russian Navy and Russian Aerospace Forces. There are also the Strategic Missile troops and the Russian  Airborborne Troops.

Russian Salary and longevity: The Russian Foreign Legion offers a salary of 200,000 roubles per month, which is equivalent to $2,000 -$3000. But whether you will be able to spend the money is a moot question when you take the heavy deaths tolls and battle injuries into consideration.

According to the Brussels-based research institute Bruegel, and the Kiel Institute for World Economy, the cost and requirements , if Europe has to defend itself against Russia, without the support of the USA, it would require 250 billion euros per year to effectively counter Russian military forces.

In that case, Europe would have to deploy 50 additional brigades with a total of 300,000 Nato soldiers.

What would Europe require for these 50 brigades? 1,400 main battle tanks and 2,000 infantry fighting vehicles. This would be more than the current numbers of entire German, French, Italian and British Land Forces.  I addition to that, Europe would have to produce 2,000 long-range-drones each year.

Reports of Russian Razzias: In the meantime, reports of razzias being carried out in exclusive Moscow Clubs are making the rounds, where the Russian police enter such such dance, music nd vodka establishments and arrest young people and take them away to recruiting centres. The end of President Putin’s the war is not to be seen. The Kremlin is preparing seriously for a long war in the Ukraine and beyond.

The recruitment of young Muscovites: THE RECRUITMENT OF YOUNG Russians with brutality and aggression by the chief of the Kremlin Wladimir Putin, is a sign that there’s a dearth of soldiers in the Russian Army. Putin is running short of cannon-fodder after every month Russian soldiers were injured or killed in great numbers, around 1,000 according to Nato sources. It was the goal of the Kremlin people to keep the war far away, because it’s in the Kremlin that the power elite of the Russian society resides. It would have been a risk for Putin if the war came close, and the sons of the powerful-elite would have to go to war. Gradually, this has become the reality and truth in Moscow, and the Muscovites feel this closeness of death approaching.

In Western Europe the news have been manipulated and the talk about a peace and silence of the weapons is being spread by vested pro-Moscow, pro-Putin interests, and the people even talk about Peace Talk and Peace Troops. Even Putin in his many controversial quotes is saying he agrees to a Peace Plan, when in reality even he does not want peace. Who is to guarantee the security? The eternal themes are Ukraine’s membership in the Nato and Peace Troops are being discussed to strengthen the peace talks after they have been held between Kiew and Moscow.

Russia should not be allowed to attack Ukraine in the future again after some years to   gobble up more sovereign Ukrainian and other territories. This is the fear in Kiew. It was Emanuel Macron who brought the Peace Troops Idea rolling in 2024 in the talks. Even German Minister for External Affairs Annalena Baerbock was questioned at the Nato External Minister talks in Brussels on this matter.
