Autor Biographie Satis Shroff: 

Satis Shroff ist Dozent, Schriftsteller, Dichter und Künstler.  Er hat sechs Bücher geschrieben: Im Schatten des Himalaya (Gedichte und Prosa), Through Nepalese Eyes (Reisebericht), Katmandu, Katmandu (Gedichte und Prosa mit Nepali autoren) Glacial Whispers (Gedichtesammlung zwischen 1997-2010).  Er hat zwei Sprachführer im Auftrag von Horlemannverlag und Deutsche Stiftung für Entwicklungsdienst (DSE) geschrieben, außerdem drei Artikeln über die Gurkhas, Achtausender und Nepals Symbolen für Nelles Verlags ‚Nepal’ und über Hinduismus in „Nepal: Myths & Realities (Book Faith India). Sein Gedicht „Mental Molotovs“ wurde im epd-Entwicklungsdienst (Frankfurt) veröffentlicht. Seine Lyrik sind in Slow Trains, International Zeitschrift, World Poetry Society (WPS), New Writing North, Muses Review, The Megaphone, Pen Himalaya, Interpoetry publiziert worden. Satis Shroff lebt in Freiburg (poems, fiction, non-fiction) und schreibt über ökologische, medizin-ethnologische und kultur-ethnische Themen und singt beim www.mgv-kappel.de. Er hat Zoologie und Botanik in Nepal, Sozialarbeit und Medizin in Freiburg und Creative Writing in Freiburg und UK studiert. Da Literatur eine der wichtigsten Wege ist, um die Kulturen kennenzulernen, hat er sein Leben dem Kreatives Schreiben gewidmet. Er arbeitet als Dozent in Basel (Schweiz) und in Deutschland an der  Akademie für medizinische Berufe (Uniklinik Freiburg) und VHS-Freiburg und VHS-Dreisamtal. Ihm wurde der DAAD-Preis verliehen.

Satis Shroff is a lecturer, poet, singer (mgv-kappel) and author based in Freiburg (poems, fiction, non-fiction) who also writes on ecological, ethno-medical, culture-ethnological themes. He has studied Zoology and Botany in Nepal, Medicine and Social Sciences in Freiburg (Germany) and Creative Writing in Freiburg and Manchester (UK). He describes himself as a mediator between western and eastern cultures and sees his future as a writer and poet.

Since literature is one of the most important means of cross-cultural learning, Satis is dedicated to promoting and creating awareness for Creative Writing and trans-cultural togetherness in his writings, and in preserving an attitude of Miteinander in this world. He lectures in Basle (Switzerland) and in Germany at the Akademie für medizinische Berufe (University Klinikum Freiburg) and the VHS-Freiburg. Satis Shroff was awarded the German Academic Exchange Prize and also the Kulturpreis of Green City Freiburg for his social engagement for the refugees and asylum seekers. He was nominated for German Engagement Prize 2011 Berlin by Green City Freiburg.

Satis Shroff has written two language books on the Nepali language in German for DSE (Deutsche Stiftung für Entwicklungsdienst) & Horlemannverlag. He is a contributing author on Boloji.com. He has written feature articles in the Munich-based Nelles Verlag’s ‘Nepal’ on the Himalayan Kingdom’s Gurkhas, sacred mountains and Nepalese symbols, and on Hinduism in ‘Nepal: Myths & Realities (Book Faith India) and his poem ‘Mental Molotovs’ was published in epd-Entwicklungsdienst (Frankfurt). §  To recognize the importance and achievements of a scholar, writer, or combination of both by presenting a Distinguished Achievement Award.

§  To mentor students and youth for bringing up skills for creative writing and to further improve the skills required in their fields.

§  To advance the course of peace, by providing a platform for all interested writers

§  To encourage free discussion among writers on peace issues and related matters

§  To promote the interaction of existing peace activists and organizations

§  To promote the principles of non-violence and to inspire writers for global peace and harmony.

§  To put peace onto the agendas of organizations and to institutionalize peace

§  To publish newsletters, journals and conduct periodic conferences to reinforce values for world peace

§  To provide opportunities for writers to broaden their horizon and international perspective

§  To exchange ideas and experiences with writers’ counterparts in other countries
