The Season Of AwakeningWill There Ever Be Another Song To Sing?Going To The Mountain To PrayEven Though I've Never Seen YouTake A Walk With MeIndex A Healing Spiritualityby Caroline Allen - 23:06 on 23 August 2007A HEALING SPIRITUALITYDo you have a nagging sense that you're incomplete? Maybe you're feeling restless, broken, or empty ... or are not as disciplined or consistent as you know you ought to be. Our culture tells us to fill this void with self-help resources, talk shows, and quick fixes, but these are empty exercises. Instead, we need to meet our spiritual and emotional yearnings with the God who gave us these desires. He is the one who permits us to feel incomplete, so that we would listen to His voice and draw near to Him. True spirituality consists of the only power that can genuinely heal us -- the power of God's Spirit working within us. I believe that by developing our relationship with the Holy Spirit, we will notice our nagging, restless, broken feelings begin to mend and heal. We will develop a fruitful relationship with God that is filled with contentment, joy, and purpose. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that "The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law." By yielding to the Holy Spirit's leadership in our lives, we can reap the fruit of His presence. But for many, developing a relationship with God's Spirit and tapping into His power may seem like forging ahead into the great unknown. How can we know Him, and how can we bear His fruit in our lives? We must empty ourselves of our own ambition, our own answers, and our anxieties. We need to remember who resides within us. Don't focus on what you can't do, but focus on what God can do for you and through you in the lives of others. Have faith that He will work all things to your eternal good (see Romans 8:28).
