Live Peaceably

by Caroline Allen - 06:34 on 30 July 2007

12: 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

This is a passage taken from Romans 12:18. Why do we find it so hard to live in unity and peace with each other?  I know that the enemy comes in to set us up to take the bait for injustices, done to us,  or things we think are right, or when we believe we are in the right, or plain just pride and ego taking over and saying hey...you just hurt me so I must hurt you back. Retaliations are never good, we can never take back the words we've said that cuts deeply. I remember my own mother telling me as I grew up be careful what you say out of anger or hurt because once the words are said you can never take them back. The Bible states in Proverbs that a brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city; and their contentions are like the bars of a castle. So we must always be careful to be meek as Jesus was meek and He was also wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove. In Proverbs 16:28  it says: The heart of the wise studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. If we are able to control our thoughts and our emotions with the help of the Holy Spirit there will be less and less people in our life to be hurt by the words we say, or the actions we carry out by the spirit of offense. David said Let the words of thy mouth and the meditation of thy heart be pleasing in they sight Oh Lord thy Rock and thy Redeemer. May we be careful in all we do and say. God bless you. Love, Lisa
