You've Been There Haven't You? Wednesday, November 7, 2007 - 11:16 PM

The Lord taught me some very important spiritual heart issues tonight. What do we rely on and where do we put our trust? Sometimes we can rely on everything else BUT GOD! We think oh I've been down this road before I know just how I'm gonna solve this one! Or how about this? we look to other's for help? Trusting and depending on someone else to get us through instead of looking to God. In my quiet time this evening the Lord took me to Isaiah 31 Hezekiah was a good king, but he repeated the sin of his father Ahaz by seeking security in an alliance with an alien power. 2 Kings 16:7; Isa.36:6. Instead, he should have been encouraging his people to trust in the Lord. By seeking His help from Egypt, Hezekiah showed that he had failed to learn from history. Egypt had been anything but an ally to Israel. Hezekiah had also forgotten Scripture. Amassing horses for cavalry units was against the divine constitution for the king.{Duet.17:16} Utimately, Hezekiah did seek help from the Lord Isa 37:1-6, 14-20 And God miraculously annihilated the invading Assyrians {VV.36-38} Judah made the mistake of valuing the strength of Egypt over the living God. May our trust always be in the name of the Lord our God {Psalm20:7} This was taken from Our Daily Bread. At the end of this devotional it says this: No life is more secure than a life surrendered to God. Many times of late I've found myself trusting in things and people more than I have in God and people can fail us, jobs can cease, trusting in anything other than God can spell disaster! I know that our memories can fail and we can go round the mountain so many times until we get it right. God is still in the business of constructing us but He will complete what He has begun in us until the day of Jesus Christ's return. What a lesson in staying close and not falling away from the Vine. Psalm 20:7 says: Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
