JEREMY HUGH WATSON
In this section I have included various descriptions of my own life, mainly the early period. Writing up such memories in such an open forumt is a bit strange in some ways, a bit self-centred, but in others a means of getting those memories in some sort of order, perhaps a little cathartic and perhaps of interest to subsequent generations. My life was not unusual, but looking back through the prism of place and time this gives it new comparative interest. If you have come across this, it may trigger your own memories or be of some fascination of a historically fairly recent, but bygone era. Even life this year, 2020, the period in I am writing this section, is very different from last year. We are seeing our family as much as possible and loving it. Our fantastic little grandson is well into his second year. But a coronavirus in the form of SARS-COV- 2 and felt as covid-19, struck in spring and, although it has not interfered with us directly, has impacted when and how we see them or do pretty much anything.
There is but only passing reference to my wife and daughters or family of my own generation or younger. I love them all dearly and, as noted elsewhere this is due to great respect for their own privacy and certainly not to simply omit them. They can do their own reminiscences one day in their own way. I love my family dearly.
Working on my websites comes in spurts and that means some content gets out of date. I will not attempt to keep revising it, but some revisions will be evident.
Since writing the above, my little grand daughter has arrived and joined her brother as delightful young members of the family. Life is very different and positive.
My professional life, society memberships and activities can be found on LinkedIn.
The adjoining sub-tabs on a variety of subjectsngive more detail of my life, experiences and interests. They may seem self-centred, but have been fun parts of this website for me to compile. It is my own website after all. The subjects are not intended as treatises. Rather as a scrapbook with extended annotations.
My father used to say that we were living in an amazing era. WWII was still vivid in his memories, but we now have peace. Man had reached the moon. He was to live long enough to experience personal computers - and to get confused by them - but he did not even imagine the complete transformation of lifestyle across the planet as the digital age penetrated every aspect of life. That transformation was dramatic, yet the drama unfolded quietly. It is more in retrospect that we can really appreciate it. I hope these memories of my own are of interest to others of my generation and to future generations.
I have no idea who, if anyone, will read all this, but it has been fun compiling it. And it has helped order the loose memories from the mists at the back of my brain.
You may find some overlap in subject matter. As elsewhere I have not referred to anyone of my generation or younger, other than myself, although I have on occasion used an initial to keep the text legible. I reiterate that this is to respect their privacy. They will have their own stories to tell.
