Foinaven.6th May 2012.

The morning was clear when we left Wick at 7.00am. As we drew nearer our destination the weather became more changeable. Lochmore was shrouded in mist and then we ran into a blizzard. Not a good omen I thought.

The five of us started the walk from the Water Board pumping station just north of Rhiconich. Ground conditions were wet and slippery. We were hit by several snow showers on the way and had to sit them out while they passed over.

Ian forged ahead and for the rest of us it was a slow hard slog to the top. It was worth the effort though as the views from the summit were stunning.

A good day out, but a very long and tiring one.
