Father & Mother : Harold & Mary Nelson
Departure to Canada.
Jack (14) and his elder brother Clarence (16) left Liverpool on the Cunard liner 'Antonia' to join their father Harold in Canada on the 19th March 1926. the trip took them to St Johns N.B.
Marriage
Married Joan Knox on September 6, 1941.
A separate page is included for Joan in this family tree because she was raised by Harold and her mother Annie Nelson, (formerly Knox, born Collins) from the age of 6. She was Jack's step-sister and although not legally adopted by Harold, she did aquire the Nelson name through marriage.

Entered armed services in July 1942.
Although Jack's ship was torpedoed and sunk, the soldiers and crew made it safely to shore in Algeria and later moved on to Sicily.
