Laura Nelson (Eric's daughter) says;- my dad served in both the Royal and Merchant Navy. He joined when he was 16 yrs old after working at the Lion Salt Works when he left school. He loved the navy and didn't leave until he married my mum. I still have his hat and whistle.
My dad was so generous, he would give you his last penny. He loved his brothers and sisters and really missed them living down south.
Death
Eric died on the 12th September 2004 at Dartford, Kent aged 77
