JOHN KIRKBRIDE
John Kirkbride was born in 1856 and baptised on the 30th March 1856, the same year. His Father Bernard was a wheelwright and joiner and all his family followed him in the trade of being a joiner. His mother was Esther, both were born in Burton in Lonsdale. John was one of six children. John Kirkbride died age 37 in 1893 and was buried in Burton in Lonsdale on the 2nd November.

They were living at Low Street in Burton in Losdale, John's father Bernard had died in 1882 age 66, but were still living with John's mother.
Bernard their son was born in 1887, but he was living with his other grandparents John and Elizabeth Nelson, they were also living in Low Street, Burton in Lonsdale. Also at the Nelson's was Ruth Isabel Mitton, daughter of Mary Ellen Nelson (B.1847).

Still living at Low Street, Burton in Lonsdale, Elizabeth Ann was still a dressmaker. with her was Alice Nelson (35), her neice her assistant, and two sons Bernard (23) a joiner and 18 year old John Nelson Kirkbride his assistant. Both sons were to go to war.

JOHN NELSON KIRKBRIDE
Born : 1892 in Burton in Lonsdale
Baptism : 10th July 1892.
On 9th December 1915 John joined the Lancashire Fusiliers, Royal engineers.
In 1933 John married Edith Bridge (B.1894) living in Burton in Lonsdale, living at 4, The Croft.
John died in 1969 (age 77) and was buried on the 17th October 1969 in burton in Lonsdale, his wife Edith (age 74) died just months later. They are buried in the South yard at Burton.
