MEMORIES
These combine my own memories with those others gleaned from the large collection of old photographs that I have inherited. The subjects covered are of my own interest, but include many photographs from past generations too. Together they form a broad record of the lives of my forebears and of the East London area.
They take on new significance as time passes. Future generations may find some of this bizarre. Life without computers or smartphones or TV for instance - instead having slide rules and glowing hot bulbs within radiograms. Colonial life slid into apartheid and we were part of it. Why?
The sub tabs cover subjects such as cars, beaches, the Space Race and Duncan Village. Have a look. I hope that you enjoy them or that they at least trigger memories of your own; perhaps inspiration to record your own family's personal histories.
There are also some subjects of a more personal nature to me under WATSON, JEREMY HUGH
