XXX WHY SOUTH AFRICA XXX
This section endeavours to find why our ancestors settled in the Eastern Cape. The first of these were part of the 1820 Settler scheme sent out by the United Kingdom Government. Others followed.
I trace the story from the finding of the route around the Cape, early European settlement and the 1820 Settlers covering the local political, geographic and natual environment up to the present day.
This is an active project and will be added to and edited over time.
