HOME ENVIRONMENT BEACON BAY

Air views

These photos were taken from a microlight owned by a building contractor I knew. Our house overlooked the Quinera River.

This is a view of the mudflats with Pirates Creek down on the left.

This was taken from roughly the same position, but looking the opposite direction. There are the mudflats in the foreground. The Quinera River runs down to the sea at Bonza Bay beach.

Just a little upstream from the view above and we come to the island. Our house is marked with a red star. That gap between our house and the next has since been filled.

And there it is again.

The lounge has the verandah looking out towards the river. Dining room & kitchen to the right. Girls room to the left of the lounge. The extension with the cantilevered  bay window to the left of them. Behind that towards the road is the double garage. The maid's room is to the top right.

I still had the knack of building models and made one for our house. It slowly disintegrated over time.

Compare this to the air view above. Keep in mind that this was made before the extensions were built, but you can see the space allowed for in advance.

We never actually built that pergola, but a terrace outside the bedroom windows was built up. Each bedroom window had a vertical section that was tall and could be used as a door.

Here you can see the contained garden space between the garage, entrance arch and the house itself.
