Preacher Master Bole was Chaplin to the Army. A Good Puritan whose job was keep the troops on the straight and narrow. Nobody was supposed to preach except a Chaplin. This was to try and prevent the spread of different sects that were springing up, Baptists, Quakers, Fifth Monarchy Men and a number of other notions of more outlandish ideas. None of which were deemed good for moral or discipline. |
