At Yankee StadiumLike a dog with a bone in its jaw Andy Petite held the Cincinnati Reds for six innings before the Heavens relieved itself of its waters in the form of a heavy fall of rain. The downpour lasted nearly an hour and when it stopped Petite stayed behind in the dugout as his manager thought that the delay had been too long to allowing his star pitcher to resume. However, Petite had done enough to merit a rest and as the game had gone beyond the fifth inning he was entitled to claim the victory. Final score 4 - 1 to The N.Y. Yankees.
