He cerrado mis ojos
esta mañana
He sentido lo cálido
de tu abrazo
han llegado a mi mente
recuerdos de mi niñez
imágenes intactas
de los morros de San Juan
me he trasladado a un
domingo en la plaza
he visto al santo gigante
monolítico en el cemento frio
sin sentimientos
He sabido en este abrazo
que tu regazo
se convirtió en mi patria
el olor al café de la mañana
justifica mi  existencia
Cerrados mis ojos
y sumergido en tus brazos
descubro que no hay distancias
ni tiempos remotos
puedo estar donde quiera
hoy estuve en mi pueblo
 
y no quiero abrir los ojos
quisiera quedarme intacto
suspirando ante la majestuosidad
 
del paisaje
Pero el café se enfría
 
y el reloj no se detiene
ya es hora de volver a la realidad.

I closed my eyes
this morning,
felt the warm
of your daily embrace
and to my mind came
memories of my childhood which
brought me clear  images
of the hills of San Juan.
It is Sunday and I am now at the Bolivar's square.
Climbing the steps to reach the replica of a monolithic cold cement, a giant saint named SanJuan.
Once upon a time, I felt frustrated and trapped in a world of loneliness but since I met you I have learned to appreciate your closeness for when I am near you I feel homely with you.
Your nearness has become my homeland and my needs
are fully satisfies with the warmth of your heart.

Indeed, the smell of morning coffee is another thing even though its taste makes me feel alive.
Again I closed my eyes
as I submerged myself in your arms
as I discovered there were no distances
far enough to keep us apart.

In my mind, I can be anywhere I want.

Today I was in my hometown but
tomorrow you and I could be having lunch and talking
with the stars above in the infinite sky.

I don't want to open my eyes
for I would like to stay in this fantastic world of you and I
together until the end of time.

I am afraid it is time to return to
our daily life to try to make your dream and mine real in a world which at times seems surreal and where the irrational forces of evil have made their home.
