Junior Tennis Tournament In Pto. Ordaz - On October 12, 2018

The Italo Venezuelan Club in Puerto Ordaz - Bolivar was the venue chosen to hold a Red and Orange balls Junior tournament to celebrate Columbus Day. Luis Fernando Figueroa Vasquez and Eva Figueroa Vasquez Whose parents, Roosverth Figueroa and Migyelis Vasquez are constant readers of our sporting news, took part in the tournament. Both, Eva and Luis Fernando had an excellent participation, being runners-up in their respective categories. Eva played three matches, in the first one she played Chelsea Queen. Eva won the first set  4-0 but Chelsea won the second set 3-5 and the encounter was decided in a tiebreak which Eva won comprehensively 10-5 in a tiebreak. Unfortunately, Eva lost her second match to Isabella Rivero 8-10 in a tiebreak. Eva, however, defeated Sofia Gonzalez 5-3,5-3 in her third match, this victory allowed Eva to claim the second spot in her competition. So well done Eva. In the other category, Luis Fernando, Eva's brother played two matches losing the first one to Wuis Frederick 6-4, 3-6,10-8 in a tiebreak. Nevertheless, it was a very close match where quarters were not given and none asked but as it is often the case in every competition there has to be a winner and a loser and in this occasion, Wuis Frederick took the win. Luis Fernando's second match was a different story as he defeated Alejandro Jimenez 6-4,6-2 to claim the runner-up position. It is important to notice that these two players are trained by Professor Orlando Correa, who does an important job as a tennis coach in Puerto Ordaz, inculcating moral and inspiring ethical values to all those who seek his know-how in their quest for being better sportsmen and people in order to be better of what they are.
