The final curtain of a fine run fell on friday night!
22 June 2008
The winning streak comes to end but there is no fear of  the undoing turning into a Greek tragedy at Yankee Stadium.
Ken Griffey Junior of The Cincinnati Reds arrived in Brooklyn last friday afternoon singing Alex Rodriguez's praises as he is utterly convinced, barring injuries, that A-Rod would replace Barry Bonds as the king of the sluggers before too long. Fine words indeed but nothing is ever achieved by praises alone but Alex is surely aware that sometimes what one expects to happen could suddenly turns out not to happen at all. With this in mind, he should be fearful of the Greeks even when they bear gifts. Moreover, the Yankees must not forget that Achilles was invulnerable on all of his body except for his right heel which was not plunged into the river's waters and Edinson Voltes seemed to have found that spot on friday night as he pitched seven innings in which he made The Yankees fell over backwards just like the crew of a capsized rowing boat when the oars miss the water as they  attempted to catch crabs in a mud flat covered by the sea at hide tide. The final score was 4 - 2 to the Cincinnati Reds.
